USA diversophy® Campus 3D provides you with the
opportunity to respond to 100 true and false or multiple choice
questions about US business culture and its social

The
Doing Business with the

work in the USA or who must work, learn or communicate productively
with US Americans wherever they are.
HOW TO ACCESS THE 3D CAMPUS TO
PLAY diversophy®
It may be easier if you
download and print out these
instructions.
Go directly to STEP 2 if you already have a Second Life account
working on your computer.
STEP 1
SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT & PREPARING
YOUR COMPUTER (If you do not yet have a working Second
Life Account)
-
Check the system
requirements of your computer or the computer you are using
first to see if you can load the Second Life software by
going to http://secondlife.com/support/system-
requirements/. If you do not meet these requirements you
will have to use a computer that does, perhaps with a friend
or classmate.
-
If you do not
have a Second Life account, please create one by following this
link: https://join.secondlife.com/
. Creating and accessing a Second
Life account is completely free.
-
Fill in all your
data, invent a first name for your avatar, then choose a last
name from the list offered, then use the tools provided
to create how your Second Life avatar will
look.
-
After creating
the account, you will be asked to activate it by clicking on the
link in the confirmation email that you
receive.
-
Next, download
Second Life Viewer 1.23 from one of these
links:
Windows |
Mac |
Linux. Once the download is finished, run the
installation. Please have a look at this guide to familiarize
yourself with the viewer:
Viewer 1.23
Quickstart Guide Welcome to Second Life!
-
After successful
installation, start the Second Life client and log in using
your Second Life name and password. Be sure to note
these down for future use. You will arrive in the
Welcome Island which gives you general instructions on how to
use Second Life.
-
IMPORTANT! Please
send your avatar name by email immediately to the facilitator
, once you are wearing the HUD (see instructions
below). You need to
do this to get full access to the quiz and to get credit for
the dollars you earn toward your
grade.
STEP 2
-
If you have an
avatar send your avatar name by email immediately to the facilitator
, once you are wearing the HUD (see instructions
below). You need to do this to get full access to
the quiz and get credit
for dollars you earn toward your
grade.
-
Now you are
ready to go to the diversophy® 3D Campus, click the link below and
get teleported directly to Bluepill Island’s Landing
Point:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bluepill/224/217/95/?title=diversophy%20HUD
-
Alternatively,
you can also search for the bluepill GROUP Island in the Second
Life viewer by following these
steps:
-
Click on the
“Map” button.
-
Type
“bluepill” in the empty
field.
-
Click on the
“Teleport” button.
-
This will take
you to Bluepill Island’s main Landing Point, where you will
see three panels next to each other:
Go
towards the last panel to the right and find the image that
says
“Campus
3D diversophy. HUD.” Click on it.
|
-
Next you will
arrive in front of the Campus 3D Station:

-
If you do not
see it, move your avatar around to locate it using your keyboard
arrows.
-
Locate the
“Get your HUD” button underneath the course
buttons on the station panel (see the image above).
Instructions for attaching the HUD are also posted behind the
Campus 3D Station. To get and wear the HUD, follow these
steps:
-
Click on
“Get your HUD” and then click on
“keep” to the message that
appears.
-
Then walk behind
the Campus 3D Station to see images and instructions for
attaching the HUD. You can also follow these
steps:
-
Click on your
inventory (at the bottom of the page or a suitcase image on
the right of the page if you are using viewer 2), then locate
“Objects” and click on it.
-
Find "diversophy
HUD 1.32 beta" and right click on
“wear.” It
is important that you wear it.
-
Once you are
wearing it,
you will get a message welcoming you to the
HUD.
-
The Welcome
Panel will appear to the left of the 3D Station HUD panel (it
may take a few seconds to load, so be patient). When you see
it, you will have access to
the demo version first, unless you notify a
facilitator that you have
acquired the HUD. You will get an email once you have
full access. Now you will be ready to have a go at the
complete game - simply press on the
“Start” button at the bottom of the
Welcome Panel, then choose United States of
America (USA) from the list and click on “Do
course.” You will have about 100 questions
to answer.
-
NB! To have your HUD
working properly, please use viewer 1.32, not viewer 2. You
can download viewer 1.32 by clicking on the notice next
to the HUD station, opening the link and scrolling down
to the bottom of the
downloads’ page:

Please note the following when
playing:
-
Pressing the
“STOP” button will terminate your active course.
You will have to start from the beginning.
-
Pressing the
“PAUSE” button will pause your active quiz and
show you the Overview
Course screen when you
resume the quiz.
-
To resume the
quiz you paused, simply select "USA" on the
Overview
Course screen. You
will return to the question where you paused
earlier.
-
You have 150
seconds to answer each question. If your time runs out, your
test will also end, so remember to press the "PAUSE"
button if you are interrupted or you want to take a
break.
-
Once you have
completed an exercise, you will see your final score on the HUD.
The system calculates a percentage of correct answers. If
your final percentage is 67%, you’ll earn
$67, etc.
-
Please send your
final score with your real name and your avatar name to
a facilitator
.
We realize that it is a bit of a trek to
get here, but we hope you will enjoy this virtual experience!
During your course you will also have the opportunity to meet
with our online facilitators and take part in events and
discussions that will contribute to your
coursework.
