Jolanda Tromp consults on the use, design, and evaluation of multi-cultural, virtual
teamwork systems. She has a BSc in psychology from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD
in usability design and evaluation of collaborative virtual environments from the University
of Nottingham. Since the 1990s she has been involved in the design and evaluation of
collaborative virtual environments and later in the design and evaluation of mobile phone
technologies, working as a human factors research scientist on large, long-term
international projects for and with academic and industrial partners. She specializes in:
• Collecting user preferences for potential systems and equipment, thus helping to avoid
expenses on systems that do not address actual user needs, and
• Creating instruments for evaluating virtual teamwork systems and other types of
telecommunication systems and devices, helping to assess how well the
technologies promote effective teamwork.
