Discuss implementation of COI®

George Simons has been certified by TMCorp as a practioner of their Cultural Orientation Indicator. COI® is a web-based cross-cultural communication model and assessment tool that allows individuals and teams to assess their personal cultural preferences and compare them ad libitum with each other, as well as with generalized profiles of other cultures with whom they may interact.

The COI® provides users with a personal cultural profile based on ten dimensions that have particular application to living and working across cultures.

The understanding gained from the personal profile can be applied to the development of specific business, teamwork, management, sales, marketing, negotiation and leadership skills.

The team member completes the online survey (available in English, French, German and Spanish) and immediately receives his or her cultural profile to print out, explore and discuss with others on their team on or offline.

Presentation of the model with illustrations of the most relevant dimensions via information delivered and dialogues and exercises can be made both at the face-to-face tutorial and later online. This gives a thorough explanation of the cultural differences that the team members are likely to face both with each other and customers, and other outside stakeholders.

Discussion of how these cultural variables currently affect internal communication and coooperation as well as in relationship with customers.

Application of learnings to the individual and team self-knowledge base and choice of behavioral standards for communication and working together. Managers, team leaders and members can establish team norms and best practices for paying attention to and maximizing the advantages of team diversity.

Users have access to the online profiles for one year from the time they first take the assessment.
